In recognition of today’s International Women’s Day, Monday March 8th 2021. I wanted to say a few words about the importance of gender equality in The HATS Group.
International Women’s Day is a time to challenge bias and to celebrate the achievements of our female colleagues, generally and of course here at The HATS Group. The ‘macro theme’ for this year’s 2021 International Women’s Day is ‘choose to challenge’ and that is exactly what I encourage all women at HATS, and indeed all our Male colleagues to do also – choose to challenge: challenge the stigmas still associated around inequality between genders, until everywhere within our own National and the broader International Society there is proper and full gender inclusivity and parity.
Only then we will really move forward as one, irrespective of individual’s gender!Women’s issues are everyone’s issues: we all have a mother, a sister, a partner, a friend or a colleague who has faced some of the sorts of challenges that equality looks to overcome.
At The HATS Group, female colleagues have been instrumental and remain crucial to the success of our business. Without the many women who work incredibly hard at HATS – across all disciplines and departments, front line PTS and H2S or in administrative or managerial roles at Head Office, we simply would not be able to offer and deliver the incredible range of services that we do, and that our customers, patients and passengers have come to depend upon.
Put simply, our HATS Group ladies are remarkable in helping us all achieve what we achieve!
As well as today being International Women’s Day: March 2021 is also Women’s History Month and to mark this month and to celebrate women and especially the women who make HATS what it is, over the next 4 weeks we will be showcasing and celebrating some of their many achievements, accomplishments, sharing their fascinating stories, whether they have:
- Challenged the wider perceptions and succeeded in the Transport Industry – a typically ‘male dominated environment’.
- Challenged their environment and risen through the ranks, maybe starting from less-than-ideal backgrounds.
- Challenged themselves to better themselves, learning new skills and developing their careers, to be able to provide for their family.
Whatever their story, it is certain that to succeed they have all ‘chosen to challenge’ and for that the rest of us should be thankful. I look forward to sharing their stories with you over the coming month.
