Never ones to shy away from a challenge, we set ourselves an ambitious target of together, stepping over 16,000,000 (16 million!) steps. So, we laced up our trainers / shoes and even flip flops and set off – squeezing a walk in here and a walk in there: usual 5-minute commutes to the shops were changed in 20 mins hikes and together we pushed hard and far – through the inclement British Summer weather, and not only achieving our target, but absolutely smashing it!
Together as a team we stepped just under 25,000,000 (yes 25 million!) times – that’s over 10,700 miles and the equivalent of walking from London to Sydney… and beyond!!
As always, many participants really threw themselves into the event, with one colleague even stepping 50,000 steps in a single day – that’s further than a marathon! But everyone who took part rose to the challenge and I’m delighted to say that as of today we have raised well over £10,000 for George – meaning that he is able to get his life changing surgery.
To top everything off we also received an absolutely fabulous message from Simon Thompson – George’s dad:
“I just want to say to everyone at Team HATS a huge thank you for your support, kindness, and generosity. Nikki and I are incredibly grateful for every step taken and for every pound donated to support George’s Challenge. Please know that you have all played a massive part in George’s progress.
