February again, saw an extraordinary number of nominations all of whom would have been potentially worthy winners, however, two people time and time again seemed to always rise to the top – being mentioned and commended by a number of patients for their fabulous efforts on numerous occasions. They were Amjad Sabir and Mohammed Habib one of our Patient Transport Services (PTS) crews operating from St George’s Hospital, London. Both Amjad and Mohammed went above and beyond, displaying everything that it means to be a HATS Group Hero of the Month.
They received numerous commendations and thank you letters from several grateful patients, however the one that sticks with me is the caring, supportive and compassionate way that they dealt with a younger patient and their visits to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) over a sustained period of time, whilst the patient was suffering with COVID-19. It was their diligence, attitude and obvious demonstration of putting into practice everything they had been trained and taught – with regards to effective COVID-19 IPC management and protocols, that gave significant peace of mind, confidence and assurance to the patient and their parents that they were in safe hands – testament to not only them, but also the way the whole HATS Group has rallied around and responded so effectively during this terrible pandemic.
Very well-done gentlemen, I am sure that everyone, right across the group joins me in extending my warm congratulations to both of you – Amjad and Mohammed, as the winners of The HATS Heroes of the Month for February 2021.
